Next time your Vanagon needs towing from an airport or underground garage, make sure the driver takes it slow, and is aware of your vehicles elevated height when hitched.
The AAA tow truck driver in this instance could not use a flat bed in the SeaTac airport garage, and used a standard tow truck, towing the van backwards. The roof of the van was scraped on the circular exit ramps. The driver never even disclosed that the car had been damaged!
The result: The towing company was on the hook for an overpriced $1300 repaint of the entire roof. Now if only the rest of the Vanagon paint looked so good...
